SACRED HEART SOCIAL SERVICE SOCIETY (SHESSS)
The Society of the Oblates of the Sacred Heart (OSH) has established a registered Social Service Society (registered under Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific & Charitable Societies Act XII of 1955) with the name 'Sacred Heart Social Service Society' before the Kottayam District Register, General with the Reg. No. K. 463/ 07, to co-ordinate the charitable and social activities of the Society of OSH with its own Rules and Regulations. The members are admitted from the Society of OSH by the president from time to time are the members of the Society. The members cannot be less than seven and more than fifty. The supreme control and management of the affairs of the society is vested in the Board of Directors. The Annual General Body elects the Board of Directors for one year and they may be re-elected upon the expiration of their term of office. The Board of Directors of the Society:

The Aims and Objectives of the Society: (a) Charity: to perform the works of charity for those in need irrespective of caste, race, community or creed;
(b) Social Service: to engage in social service activities aimed at improving the living conditions and general welfare of the poor, particularly farmers and other working people, as well as poor and indigent persons of whatever occupations irrespective of race, community, caste or creed;
(c) To establish, conduct, manage, promote, maintain, equip, administer, close down or dispose of social welfare centers, social training centers, schools, technical schools, provide scholarships, social institutes, dispensaries, hospitals, housing projects, water and sanitation, church and chapels, education for children, etc;
(d) To engage or to undertake various social and welfare activities aimed at improving the living conditions of youth, women and children, to make women aware of the need of earnings and savings in the family, imparting appropriate professional and vocational training in view of enabling them to avail employment and self employment opportunities, etc.
(e) To acquire to the same extent as natural persons might or could do, to acquire by purchase, lease, mortgage, loan, gift, grant, legacy, bequest, exchange, right, privilege or otherwise from any person company, society, government or institutions or anybody whatsoever movable and immovable properties of all descriptions deemed necessary or useful for any purpose or purpose of the Society.
(f) Building: to create buildings, hostels, bungalows, godowns, dispensaries, schools, chapels churches and any other types of building or structure whatsoever to further any purpose or purpose of the Society and to maintain, deal with, manage control, administer, develop, improve, alter, repair, demolish, or reconstruct the same or any portions thereof.
(g) Gifts-Trust: to take or to receive any gifts, whether money or property, movable or immovable; or donations in the form of debentures, stocks, shares or securities in any company or society, whether incorporated or not, or whether by gifts of a person living or by legacy, bequest, will or foundation and whether subject to any special trust or not for any one or more of the objects of the Society or foe works connected therewith; and to accept the officer of and to act as a trustee or trustees, managers or administrators, whether solely or jointly with others or another for or in respect of any property, whether vested in the President of the Society or otherwise and whether subject to any trust and not with standing that the carrying out of such trusts, management and administration would involve the exercise by the Society of powers not specifically mentioned in these prospects and moreover, to take such steps for the securing of such contributions to the funds of the Society as may from time to time be deemed expedient.
(h) To alienate: by way of sale, mortgage, lease, release, loan, charge, hypothecate, pledge, exchange hiring out, gifts or otherwise with or without security, the properties or funds of the Society or any portion or portions thereof including the making or giving of subscriptions, contributions or assistance-pecuniary or otherwise to charitable, educational, ecclesiastical, religious benevolent, social welfare or other institutions, bodies, persons as from time to time may seem necessary or appropriate.
(i) Grants: To negotiate with and to enter into arrangements with any Government or authority whether supreme, state, District, Muncipal, University or other public or private body as may seem conductive to the promotion or accomplishment of the objects of the Society or any of them; and to apply for, collect, receive or recover from any such Government or authority or body such grants, allowance, rights, concessions and privileges as may seem from time to time desirable and to carry out exercise, comply with and utilize the same. The aims and objectives are given in detail in the Rules and Regulations of the Society. Sources Income: The Society of OSH set apart a percentage of its income for the charitable and social activities and it is administered through the SHESSS. The working priest members try to raise funds through the generous people. It also tries to get funds through projects. We receive every sort of contribution, gifts or remuneration for the realization of the aforementioned aims and objectives of the Society.
